How to Make a Blog ?

If I was asked whether I prefer self-hosted blogs to free blogs, I would definitely say yes in most circumstances. Now, if I was asked if I would prefer a done-for-you hosted blog where your "job" is to "just blog", in most cases I would say yes, depending on your goals.

The most recent blog that I started was on a hosted platform, where essentially I made my payment and I was pretty much brought right to the "Add New Post" screen. Having built so many blogs in the past, even though WordPress is a snap to get installed, it was refreshing to come across a platform in such a done-for-you style like that.

Now, this convenience comes at a price of course. There are systems that charge you $25+ for this advantage. But the truth is, if they are an authority site in the eyes of search engines, and they bundle training into the experience it's well worth it. Sometimes it's nice to "just blog" and not deal with the rest of it.

You can make a blog from scratch if you have programming experience, or you can use an existing platform like WordPress, or a free hosting platform like Blogspot or Tumblr, or a value-added hosted blog solution. You can "sell" within the posts themselves, or as is the case with the value-added hosted solutions, the "selling" can be left to the platform itself.

As mentioned, the latest blog that I started working with is on a hosted system. It allows me to blog right away and I get resell rights for anyone else that decides they want to try out the system as well. I don't need to promote the service, I can just blog and let the videos in the sidebars do the selling.

Besides this type of blogging, I also go the route of: buying a shared hosting account to allow me to host multiple blogs and/or web sites, buying domain names for each blog I want to setup, changing the name servers of the domain to point to my shared hosting account, installing WordPress (I do it manually but there are fast installs), setting up all the features, design, graphics, extra pages, etc. then ultimately blogging.

With a self-hosted blog, you own the content, where you run the risk of getting an account closed with a free host. However, hosted platforms, free or not, have the advantage of "blog immediately", plus are often of high authority, which often means your blog posts will be seen quicker by search engines and will be indexed faster and higher in most cases.

Community blogging platforms also have the distinct advantage of new content being shared within the community.

So, in conclusion, if your goal is to make money blogging in as little time as possible not having to worry about any of the "techy" details, and you have the budget to cover it ($25-$125+ depending), my suggestion would be to seek out a hosted platform with a built-in sales funnel with training in place.
